A World of Data to Uncover

ALPHA SAR-XL

Unlocking Earth's data with next-gen SAR.

SAR-XL marks the next generation of space-based SAR technology by combining X and L band frequencies with onboard data processing.

NEXT-GEN SAR

SAR-XL SATELLITES

With Alpha's SAR-XL, the X and L bands work simultaneously to capture richer data. It's completely software defined, with a large phased array antenna that forms and steers the digital beams.

SAR-XL is generations ahead of contemporary SAR missions. The result? Ultra-high-resolution, wide-swath data with technology that penetrates biomass, soil, and sand.

Multi Aperture

Digital Beam Forming

SAR-XL encompasses the above capabilities, and more:

  • Multi Frequency: X and L bands simultaneously

  • Multi Aperture

  • Multiple Digital Beam Forming

  • Quad Polarization

  • Simultaneous wide swath & high res modes

NEW CAPABILITIES

DUAL FREQUENCIES

Unique technical capabilities — multi-polarization, dual-frequency, multi-aperture, and multi-beam — deliver superior insight into:

  • biomass structures

  • soil moisture content

  • objects under camouflage and trees

  • objects buried in dry soil or sand

  • simultaneous wide-swath and super high-res imaging

MULTIPLE IMAGING MODES FOR SUPERIOR ANALYSIS:

  • Wide-swath ScanSAR modes exceed 400 km in swath

  • Simultaneous X and L band StripMap mode with quad-pole L-band and high-res X-band

  • Ultra-high-res X-band spotlight with 0.5 m resolution

ADVANCED CAPABILITIES

1. Tracking with realtime onboard processing and self-cueing

  • Object detection, extremely wide-swath and immediate high-res imaging of detected objects

  • Detects targets and location, speed, and directional information

2. In-field tasking and situation awareness

  • Streaming mode: data sent to ground terminals in real-time

  • Extremely large-aperture SAR antenna

SELF-CUEING & AI

QUICKER INSIGHTS

With self-cueing satellites, intelligence is achieved in real time.  Data analysis occurs onboard the spacecraft and is optimized with space-based AI.

This provides customers with unparalleled and actionable information, extremely quickly.
