SAR-XL is an entirely new generation of spaceborne SAR technology that uses two simultaneous frequencies—X and L bands. It's fully “software defined” with digital beamforming using a large phased array antenna.

REALTIME, ONBOARD PROCESSING

This proprietary AI-based self-cueing mode of satellite surveillance next-gen capabilities, datasets, and related value-added products, providing Alpha’s customers with unparalleled and actionable information, quickly.

DUAL BANDS

The X and L band frequencies enable ultra-high resolution from X-band and acquire L-band data that can penetrate biomass, soil, and sand.

 

The two bands can be configured independently and can operate simultaneously in order to develop truly rich data.

SOFTWARE-DEFINED SAR

The SAR-XL architecture is fully digital, using a digital beamformer that can create multiple beams that each can be steered as needed.

HIGH-PERFORMANCE DATA

The multi-polarization, multi-frequency, multi-aperture, and multi-beam capability of the instrument provides tremendous information content:

  • biomass structure

  • soil moisture

  • objects under camouflage and trees

  • objects buried in dry soil or sand

  • simultaneous wide-swath and super high-res imaging

  • Wide-swath ScanSAR modes exceed 400 km in swath

  • Simultaneous X and L band StripMap mode with quad-pole L-band and high-res X-band

  • Ultra-high-res X-band spotlight with 0.5 m resolution
